On Deck is FanHouse’s look at the day’s most intriguing baseball matchups
Philadelphia Phillies (8-8) vs. New York Mets (8-6) - 7:05PM Est.

For the second time this season, the Mets and Phillies will be playing a three game series against each other as they continue to battle for NL East supremacy. I was a bit disappointed in the first series, though, as nobody got killed. I mean, these two teams are supposed to hate each other, and we at the FanHouse have ordained this rivalry as one of the best in baseball these days. Is it too much to ask that they try to physically harm each other? Though, truth be told, even if there is no fighting tonight, this game will still be worth watching. Standing between the Mets and that victory will be one Cole Hamels, who has been fantastic so far in the first few weeks of the season. His record is only 2-1, but he has an ERA of 0.82 and hasn’t allowed more than one earned run in each of his three starts, all of which were at least seven innings. HOWEVAH, Cole has struggled against the Mets recently, going 0-1 with a 4.00 ERA in his last three starts against them.Continue Reading
