With pinch hitter Cliff Floyd about to start a rehab assignment to test his ailing shoulder, it could be less than a week before the Padres make a move. The question is, who leaves.

The only two relievers with options remaining are Edwin Moreno and Luke Gregerson, the most active members of the bullpen.

Gregerson worked a scoreless sixth inning Wednesday night at Shea Stadium, then threw 10 consecutive balls to open the seventh before being removed. He wound up charged with two runs.

Because Cla Meredith has appeared in only two games -- and not at all since April 9 -- there is some question about the state of his shoulder and the possibility of a trip to the disabled list.

If the move doesn't involve one of those three, the Padres would have to pass one of the three relievers they signed late in spring training -- Edward Mujica, Eulogio De La Cruz or Luis Perdomo -- through waivers.

METS 7, PADRES 2: The Mets broke open a 2-1 game by scoring four runs on just one infield bunt single in the seventh to snap the Padres' five-game winning streak. The inning started with reliever Luke Gregerson throwing 10 straight balls. Luis Castillo then put down such a perfect bunt that resulted in a single. Three of the four runs in the inning scored on a wild pitch and a throwing error by catcher Nick Hundley.
