The right-handed Hairston, who already has six starts because the Padres have faced six left-handed starters in their first 11 games, was 3-for-5 with two doubles and a homer for four RBI in Philadelphia Friday night.

Gerut, meanwhile, had an RBI, pinch-hit single.

Between them, Hairston and Gerut have reached base 18 times in the last seven games.

Hairston is 9-for-16 in his last four starts with two doubles, two homers and eight RBIs. On the year, he is hitting .417 with a .462 on-base percentage.

Gerut is hitting .320 with a .393 on-base percentage. He is also 2-for-4 as a pinch-hitter.

Gerut (2-for-7) and Hairston (4-for-6) are also two of the Padres' leading clutch hitters early in the season.
