Last season, Jake Peavy suffered from the fourth-lowest run support in the National League (3.63 runs per game) and the second-lowest at home (2.66).
Those might be remembered as his salad days. When he walked off the field Wednesday night at Petco Park, Peavy had not seen a run scored on his behalf for 20 innings -- dating back to Adrian Gonzalez's two-run homer against Pittsburgh on April 26.
Since Gonzalez's blast, the Padres have gone 8-for-64 (.125) while hitting into five double plays during Peavy's time on the mound.
"I'm used to pitching in games like this," said Peavy, who fell to 2-4. The Padres are 2-5 in his seven starts.
