Gonzalez hit two homers Wednesday night at Wrigley Field -- both opposite-field drives to left off left-handed Cubs starter Ted Lilly -- to give the first baseman four homers in three games.
And that's homers in three straight games. Over those games, Gonzalez is 5-for-12 with the four homers and seven RBIs. His round-trippers have accounted for seven of the 11 runs the Padres scored in the three games.
Gonzalez now has a four-game hitting streak working (6-for-16). That streak follows a 6-for-30 slump for Gonzalez, who went 10 straight games without a homer and nine games without an RBI before the homer barrage began.
CUBS 6, PADRES 4 (7 1/2 innings): For the second consecutive night, Adrian Gonzalez gave the Padres a quick 2-0 lead with a two-run homer in the first. And for the second straight night, the Padres lost. RHP Chris Young gave up four home runs, two to Ryan Theriot, in four innings during a game that was shortened due to rain. The Padres have lost five straight and are 4-14 over the last 18 games.
