In: Right-handed relief pitcher Greg Burke, left-handed relief pitcher Joe Thatcher and shortstop Josh Wilson.
Out: Right-handed relievers Edwin Moreno (optioned to Class AAA Portland) and Duaner Sanchez (released) and shortstop Luis Rodriguez (placed on the 15-day disabled list with a severe left ankle sprain).
In addition, right-handed pitcher Cha Seung Baek (right forearm strain) was transferred from the 15-day to 60-day disabled list retroactive to the start of the season.
Burke, 26, was 3-0 with seven saves and a 2.25 ERA in 13 appearances with Portland, where he held opposing hitters to a .148 average. Thatcher, 27, was 1-1 with a 1.29 ERA in 14 appearances for Portland and had 17 strikeouts in 14 innings. Thatcher spent parts of the past two seasons with the Padres and had a 2-6 record with a 5.21 ERA in 47 appearances.
Wilson, 28, was claimed off waivers from Arizona. He has a .233 career average in 318 major league at-bats.
Moreno was 1-3 with a 4.67 ERA in 17 1/3 innings for the Padres. Sanchez was 1-1 with a 6.75 ERA in 11 appearances with the Padres.
PADRES 5, REDS 3: First baseman Adrian Gonzalez hit his sixth home run over five games (with at least one in five straight games), right-hander Kevin Correia became the first Padres starter to win in 25 games dating to April 16 and Heath Bell picked up his ninth save with 1 1/3 innings of shut-out relief. The Padres snapped a six-game losing streak but are still only 5-19 over their last 24 games.
