Just when you think the Padres have bottomed out, they dig a little deeper.
Friday night they lost a sixth consecutive game for the first time this season, despite the fact that Seattle stranded a franchise-record 18 runners. The Mariners still won 5-2.

The Padres (32-49) are tied for the worst record in the National League with the Nationals. Only the Mariners (29-50) have a lower winning percentage in the majors.
MARINERS 5, PADRES 2: The Padres fell to 8-19 in games when they face a left-handed starter. On Friday night at Petco Park, the only blot on Seattle LHP Jarrod Washburn's ledger was a two-run homer hit by rookie Chase Headley when the Padres were down. Earlier, 13 of the 23 hitters Seattle sent to the plate against LHP Randy Wolf reached base.
