Padres manager Bud Black labeled Giles "playable" on Tuesday, a day after Giles was forced to leave Monday's game when he tweaked a hamstring while going to first on a double play.
"I don't get doubled up on that play," Giles said, "but I couldn't go as hard as I wanted."
He started Tuesday and went 0-for-4.
Giles had knee surgery last winter. But this year, it's been his throwing shoulder and right hamstring that have troubled the 37-year-old.
Giles said there has been more bleeding in the hamstring. "I can feel it behind my knee and in the tightness of my calf muscle," he said. Giles is hoping to play on it, then rest at the All-Star break.
ROCKIES 4, PADRES 0: A night after scoring 15 runs to go with 22 hits, the Padres had no runs and five hits against Colorado ace Aaron Cook in the fastest nine-inning game ever played at Coors Field (1 hour, 58 minutes). Josh Banks took the loss, although he deserved to give up only one run rather than the four charged to him.
