Peavy also strengthened his lead in two other ERA categories. Peavy leads the NL in home ERA (1.42) and day-game ERA (1.71).
Over his last four starts (2-2), Peavy has a 2.00 ERA and has allowed only 18 hits in 27 innings while striking out 28. Thursday marked the 10th time in 21 starts that Peavy had allowed one or no runs. He has yet to allow more than four runs in any start.
One area where Peavy does not lead the league is run support. His overall 3.67 runs-per-game support is the fifth lowest in the National League, and his 2.78 run-support mark at home is the third-lowest mark.
PADRES 3, BREWERS 2: The Brewers had taken a 1-0 lead in the top of the seventh against Jake Peavy, and Milwaukee starter Ben Sheets had allowed the Padres only one hit over the first six innings. But the Padres scored three times in the bottom of the seventh with four hits against Sheets to end an eight-game Brewers winning streak.
