--SS Luis Rodriguez certainly lacks the range as well as the power stroke of former Padres SS Khalil Greene, but he's become a pesky member of the offense and defense. Rodriguez participated in three double plays Wednesday as the Padres ran their season total to 11. Rodriguez also had two hits. On the season, Rodriguez is 5-for-17 (.294) with three sacrifice flies and eight walks.
--CF Scott Hairston, the right-handed part of the Padres' center field platoon, was 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI Wednesday night and is 6-for-11 with a homer, two walks, three runs and four RBIs over his last three starts. He has started five games with the Padres facing left-handed starters in five of their first nine games. --C Nick Hundley went 4-for-4 Sunday and fell a homer short of becoming the first Padre to ever hit for the cycle. Three of Hundley's hits came against the Giants' 2008 Cy Young Award winner, Tim Lincecum. But Hundley had faced Lincecum in high school summer leagues and in Pac-10 games while he was at Arizona and Lincecum was at Washington. "Most success I've ever had against him," said Hundley.
