--1B Adrian Gonzalez failed to reach base for only the second time this season Friday night. He also grounded out with runners on second and third with one out in the first to fall to 5-for-24 with runners in scoring position on the season.

--The Padres got five hits Friday night, marking the fifth time in the last eight games that they've had five or fewer hits. Their average production over the last eight games -- 2.1 runs and 5.9 hits per game.

--The four-game homestand against the Rockies and Diamondbacks produced the smallest (13,646), second-smallest (14,717), third-smallest (15,092) and sixth-smallest (18,921) crowds in Petco Park history. The four-game average of 15,594 was 3,120 less than the previous smallest crowd at Petco Park.

--RHP Jake Peavy had a string of 13 consecutive scoreless innings going when Arizona's Justin Upton hit a two-run, scoreless-tie-breaking homer in the sixth inning Wednesday night at Petco Park. Peavy has now given up five homers in seven starts -- three of which directly beat him.
