--The Padres lost an outfielder in the first inning Wednesday night when CF Scott Hairston made a diving catch in short left-center. Only it wasn't Hairston. LF Justin Huber suffered back spasms while backing up Hairston and had to leave the game.

--OF Scott Hairston hit a two-run homer Wednesday night and is 10-for-29 over his last seven games with five doubles, two homers and four RBIs.

--1B Tony Clark is hitting .321 (9-for-28) with a .441 on-base percentage as a pinch hitter this season, although his RBI Wednesday night was his first in the role since Opening Day.

--SS Khalil Greene is 3-for-22 over the last five games with 11 strikeouts.

--The Padres have hit 14 home runs in the current homestand with a game to go. That is the most in a 10-game homestand since 2006. The Padres haven't had 15 homers in a 10-game homestand since 1992.

BY THE NUMBERS: 5 -- Season-high homers hit by the Padres on May 25 in the 18-inning, 12-9 win over the Reds.
