--2B Edgar Gonzalez set career highs for hits (four), homers (two) and RBIs (three) in a game Monday night. His 4-for-5 game boosted his average to .325 since taking over for the injured Tadahito Iguchi.
--RF Brian Giles had the 18th four-hit game of his career Monday night. He also has four this season, which leads the major leagues.
--"I stunk pretty bad," said RHP Greg Maddux after giving up eight runs on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings in Colorado on Monday night. "I just never got into the flow of the game. I struggled every inning." Monday night marked the 10th straight start that failed to produce a win for Maddux since he won the 350th game of his career against the Rockies back on May 10.
--Monday night was only the fifth time in franchise history that the Padres had 22 or more hits in a game. The last was a 22-hit game at Philadelphia on Aug. 24, 2007. The club record is 25 hits set on April 19, 1992, against San Francisco.
