--RHP Chris Young went on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right forearm. Young made three starts since spending two months on the disabled list after being hit in the face by an Albert Pujols line drive. He is also experiencing inner-ear and sinus swelling related to his June 30 surgery to re-open his nasal passages and repair a deviated septum and facial fractures.
--RHP Chad Reineke, who was acquired from Houston on July 22 for LHP Randy Wolf, likely will be promoted from Class AAA Portland to make injured RHP Chris Young's scheduled start Saturday against the Phillies. --RHP Trevor Hoffman, despite giving up a homer to former teammate Mike Cameron, converted his 15th consecutive save opportunity to record save No. 550 of his career. He is 26-for-29 in save opportunities this season. The 89.7 percent success rate is slightly better than his career success of 89.4 percent.
--LF Chase Headley is riding a nine-game hitting streak. He is hitting .433 (13-for-30) during the streak with four doubles, two homers, five RBIs and six walks.
--3B Kevin Kouzmanoff is hitting .299 (with six doubles, six homers and 22 RBIs) in the 26 games since the All-Star break.
--1B Adrian Gonzalez's batting average at Petco Park is down to .235 after he went 1-for-12 in the three-game series against the Brewers. Since the start of July, Gonzalez is 9-for-54 (.167) at home with a double, a homer, two RBIs and 15 strikeouts.
