--The Padres reached an agreement with first-round draft pick 1B Allan Dykstra less than a half-hour before Friday night's deadline. Dykstra will probably start play with short-season Class A Eugene. Dykstra's negotiations were delayed when he failed a Padres' physical over a hip injury that was surgically repaired while he was a sophomore in high school. A San Diego County native and high school product, Dykstra attended Wake Forest University.
--RHP Chad Reineke, 26, will be promoted from Class AAA Portland Saturday to start in RHP Chris Young's spot. Young has returned to the disabled list with a right forearm strain. Reineke had a 4.15 ERA in three starts with Class AAA Portland since coming to the Padres from Houston in a trade for LHP Randy Wolf. --LHP Wil Ledezma struck out the only two hitters he faced last night with two runners on. He has allowed only one run on four hits against 10 strikeouts in 8 2/3 innings since being recalled from Class AAA Portland on July 22.
--RHP Clay Hensley has allowed only one run on three hits while striking out 11 over his last nine innings of relief. He walked the first hitter he faced in the ninth last night, then struck out the side.
--Rookie C Nick Hundley has gone 4-for-33 with 10 strikeouts in his last 10 starts.
