--1B Adrian Gonzalez saw his 12-game hitting streak stopped Friday night, although he drew a walk to remain the only Padre to get on base in all 23 of the Padres' games. But Gonzalez also struck out in the eighth with two on and one out. The one negative stat in Gonzalez's resume this season is his average with runners in scoring position: 4-for-20 (.200).
--RHP Jake Peavy had hit bottom in his last two starts, allowing five earned runs in back-to-back starts for the first time since 2006. But he was at his best Friday night at Los Angeles, allowing only two hits and a walk over eight innings against the Dodgers. No Dodger reached second. Peavy lowered his lifetime ERA against the Dodgers to 2.27 and career ERA at Dodger Stadium to 3.08. His season ERA plunged from 5.74 to 4.58.
--RHP Duaner Sanchez continues to struggle in his role as the Padres main set-up reliever. He walked in the winning run Friday night in the Padres 1-0 loss. Only 15 of the 32 pitches he threw in the ninth were strikes. In five innings over last six appearances, Sanchez has allowed six runs on 10 hits and five walks.
--RHP Mark Prior has suffered another setback in his comeback bid. At the end of a recent throwing session at the Padres' extended spring training camp in Peoria, Ariz., Prior felt soreness in his surgically repaired shoulder. "He might have to take a step back," San Diego manager Bud Black said. "He is doing everything possible, it's not from a lack of effort, but he has yet to get over that hump."
--RHP Mike Ekstrom, who was designated for assignment earlier this week, cleared waivers and will be assigned to Class AAA Portland.
--RHP Eulogio De La Cruz, who was designated for assignment earlier this week, cleared waivers and will be assigned to Class AAA Portland. De Le Cruz, who opened the season with the Padres, will move into Portland's rotation.
