THE NEW STADIUM EFFECT
After 2008 left New York void of a playoff team for the first time in 14 years, both the Mets and Yankees will be looking to get off on the right foot when both break in their new stadiums this week.

The Mets are scheduled to open against the Padres tonight and the Yankees are slated to christen the new Yankee Stadium when they play host to the Indians this coming Thursday.

Here's a look back at the previous 10 ballpark openers, and how the host teams fared in those inaugural seasons in comparison to the previous year:
